UFT successfully gear up reverse engineering activities of OEM Ashok Leyland (AL) for New generation Truck Program from Physical components to Ultrasonic Scanning and convert data to Class -A surface development in Alias and CATIA V5

Business challenge:

Customer interacted with multiple vendors , which was not successful to get accuracy for the reverse engineering for eight Physical components developed by R &D of AL ,which is critical and precision accuracy with in 5 microns output surface in two weeks’ time line.

UFT comes into show:

  • UFT studied a requirement comprehensive and created a fully workable procedure to measure the physical component and created a surface.
  • For a scanning there was a standard preparation done on the physical model and added required number of locating stickers.
  • Used white light scanning machine, metric scan to generate a Class a surface.
  • Since other vendors try to use Catia V5 directly to convert Class A Surface and failed to achieve 5 microns . UFTC had special process that scan data take it to alias and build Class-A surfaces and transferred to CATIA V5 to build surface data with in 5 micron accuracy.

Impact Delivered:

  • Client received a very precise model with 5micron accuracy.
  • Client got a perfect procedure for the generating 3D model from the physical models.

Process got with minimum cost due to high competency on scanning and Alias software knowledge of UFT.
